Awarded Best of San Francisco Fringe Festival 2003 Client: Jon Whittle. Founder of Dweeb Productions
Multi-Media Work
Video was used in this story to represent the character of the theyyam,
a lower caste performer who is said to become God while performing.
The medium allowed the portrayal of the character’s elusive nature
through
jump cut editing techniques and the intermittent projections of
the character
on stage. Additionally, video was used to set the stage
for the play, which
was staged in a black theatre using a minimum
number of props.
